Math, Writing and Reading Workshop

Today during math workshop we played a new game.  Tens Frame Memory!!  It was so fun!!  Learning to work with others and take turns is not always easy to do, but our class is doing a great job!

During writing workshop we work on writing down our ideas and being independent.  Today we made a four square with four ideas or topics that we could write about.  I was AMAZED!!  I am so proud of all the students taking the risk to write on their own with very little help from me or Ms. A. 

During OLC we wrote sentences using our spelling words from this week.

During reading workshop today we practiced reading in our reading spots with our book boxes and a few books.  We will practice this frequently.  

First Day in First

Today we started talking about math workshop.  What does it sound like and what does it look like?  This week we are practicing working with others and sharing.   

 Playground fun!!  Recess was a ton of fun!  We ran and played with our friends.

We are super lucky to have  2 student teachers this year!  Ms. A will come Monday's and Tuesday's for the next seven weeks.  She jumped right in there and read the class a book and was a huge help to me and the kiddos!!

We worked and played and are very tired.  I hope everyone gets a lot of rest and comes ready for day 2 tomorrow!

First Day of First Grade

We came into room 500 not knowing what to expect.  We will leave room 500 ready to take on 2nd grade!!  I am so proud of everyone and have been so blessed to have the sweetest first grade class.  Thank you for all the memories.

Our time together is done

We sang, we read, we learned so much

Remember all the fun.

I send you on to sing more

There’s more to sing it’s true.

You’ll always be a part of me- -

I saw the smile grow on your face

When you tackled something new,

I watched as your sparkling eyes lit up,

My eyes glistened too.

I know you have hard work ahead
