Today in language we read the book Little Blue and Little Yellow. In the story we Little Blue and Little Yellow were best friends and would play with each other. One day they hugged each other and became a little green. Ask your child to retell the story with the bag of blue and yellow play doh that came home with them today.

In Math we learned how to play a new game. We toss red and white counters out and show that number on a fives frame with unifix cubes. For example, if we toss our red and white counters and 3 of the 5 counters are red side up then the student will put 3 unifix cubes on the fives frame. This game is called Give Me Five. Take a look at the pictures of our friends playing the game with a partner.

We are still disscussing the five senses in science. Today we completed a smelling science experiment. Like all good scientist, we disscussed the importance of smelling things that we don't know. Ask your child to tell you the term we use for pulling the smell to the nose by waving their hand gently over the object. Here is a friend demonstrating this new technique.

YAY Friday!!

This morning we made a "Get Well" banner for our friend Evan to display in his hospital room. As some of you know, Evan is in the hospital "getting his legs fixed." He will be out for some time while he under goes this life changing process. I went for a visit today after school and Evan is doing well. He is in good spirits and the banner from his friends put a huge smile on his face. Keep sending good thoughts his way.
This afternoon we went to the library and checked out books using our shelf markers.

Mrs. Biamont read us The Rabbit and the Turtle by Eric Carle. It was such a good book and has a great meaning. Please remember to bring back your library books every Friday so you can check out a new book.

Friday

I'm a day late, but I wanted to share with everyone our Friday.
In the morning we read The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle. After reading the story we made a circle map of things that make us sad. We finished the activity with making our own firefly and I wrote what made them sad at the bottom of the page.

Our reading buddies came after lunch and helped us make a flip book of a story retell of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We pair up with Mrs. Scholtz's 3rd grade class every Friday after lunch. We finished the morning with literacy centers and then went to computers in Pod 2 with Mrs. Campos.
After computers we came back to the class for a quick snack and then went to the library to check out books for the first time. We were very excited to check out books!! Please remember that library books need to be returned the next week. We will go to the library every Friday afternoon. If your student forgets their book then they will not be able to check out another book until they bring the over due book back.
After library we dropped our books off and went to the cafeteria for our first Robertson Round-Up.
We waited patiently for the show to begin.

Mrs. Biscamp introduces us to the start of Robertson Round Up.
Mr. I tells us The Joke of the Week.
The coaches announces Athlete of the Week.
And we end the round up with The Cha Cha Slide and our school song.
We had such a busy Friday. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Please remember to bring back your Weekend Journals on Monday.
