Winter's Story

Today kindergarten and 1st grade had a special visitor. Marianne Halleran is a dolphin trainer at Clearwater Marine in Clearwater Florida. She works with the famous Winter to teach her how to swim with the use of a prosthetic tail.
Winter was caught in a crab trap and became wrapped in the rope. When she was caught up in the rope she damaged her tail. Due to the damage to her tail she lost her tail and has to learn how to swim with a prosthetic tail. You can see more about this amazing story on

Food Chain

This week in science we are discussing food chains. We played a game called "sharks and fish." We had 3 friends act as the "sharks" and the rest of the class were the "fish."  The sharks had to chase and eat (tag) the fish. Who were the prey? predator? What will happen if all the fish are eaten? Good job sharks! They did a lot of running. We have some quick fish in out class.

Research, graphing and resemblance of Family

This week we started our ocean animal research. We have used books and the internet to help us answer questions  about our animal. We are working in groups so we can share resources.
Measurement and graphing are our topics in math this week. Working in rotations helps us understand these concepts.
In science we are discussing ocean animals showing resemblance to their mother or father. We also discovered that we can show similarities with our siblings.
