Graphing

Today we made a class graph using our eye color. We discovered that there are the same amount of students with blue or green eyes and black and brown.  We also used our eyes to count by two's yesterday.  We realized that when we count by two's it is always an even number and we skip the odd numbers!!
We are so smart!

MLK

Today we started discussing African American's that changed our history.  In class we revisited Martin Luther King Jr. We read Martin's Big Words.  It is an amazing book that goes through his childhood to his adulthood.  We learned that he was a person of peace and someone who devoted his life to make the world a place of equality for all people.

Jalen wrote, " MLK used his words not his fists."

Emma wrote, " MLK used his words and stood up for himself."

In math we started discussing ordinal numbers.  We used our friends color of paper to decide where they were in line.  Austin was 1st, Jalen was 2nd, Emma was 3rd, Chris was 4th and Ashton was 5th.

We tried it again with a new set of friends.  Gensis was 1st, Addison was 2nd, Shane was 3rd, Gigi was 4th and Miracle was 5th.

Penguins, Penguins

Last week we read a ton of books about penguins.  We learned new information about the animal.
After we read an informational text we made a tree map about the information we learned.

Then we used the tree map to write 2 complete sentences.

Everyone did an excellent job!!
